Marcia G. Taylor - Owner

For 42 years, Taylor has overseen the company’s strategic growth into an international transportation management and supply chain solutions leader with nine primary business lines. Through its affiliated companies, Bennett provides commercial vehicle transport, manufactured housing transport, heavy-haul and specialized freight transportation, logistics, warehousing and distribution services, international freight forwarding, crane, heavy rigging and specialized lifting services, and portable building manufacturing. The company and its entities employs more than 900 office employees, 3,200 independent contractors, and includes about 600 agent offices globally.

In addition to her work at Bennett, Taylor currently serves on several boards, including: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, United Community Bank Advisory Board, the Council of National Policy, the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and St. John’s Hospital. She previously served as board chair for Piedmont Henry Medical Center and on the Executive Board of the Georgia Motor Trucking Association.

Taylor has received numerous recognitions for her professional and civic accomplishments.  In 2017 she received the 2016 Horatio Alger Award from the Horatio Alger Association for Distinguished Americans. In 2016, she received an Honorary Doctorate of Commerce from Clayton State University. Other awards include the NDTA National Transportation Winner 2012, Entrepreneur of the Year (Venture Magazine), Industry of the Year (Henry County Chamber of Commerce), and eight consecutive #1 rankings on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual Top 25 Women-Owned Business List. In 2014, Taylor was named The Most Influential Woman in Trucking by Women in Trucking and Navistar. Bennett consistently ranks on Top 100 lists published in several industry-related magazines.

Gerald "Fitz" Fitzgerald - President

Gerald's, better known as Fitz, career spans over 54 years of experience in the RV and transportation industry. He has been married to his beautiful bride Jeannette for 55 years, and is truly blessed to have a daughter Kathy who also works for Bennett.

When Fitz began his journey, he started driving, on to dispatch, and with those experiences under his belt, he was able to move up to Operations Manager, then on to the challenges of Terminal Manager. For 10 years, he was the President of a contract carrier, transporting RV's and trucks. During those years, he had the pleasure of meeting a fine gentleman by the name of Ted Paul, who came to Bennett to help Mrs. Taylor begin a DriveAway division. While still living in Indiana, Ted asked Fitz to join him here in Georgia with this new opportunity. It was the right decision. Even though Ted is no longer with us, Ted was a strong influence and mentor in Fitz's life.

Today, he is honored to continue Ted's legacy as President of the division which is one of the largest DriveAway companies in the US. He has received two very special awards at Bennett, the prestigious J.D. Garrison Award given each year by Mrs. Taylor, and the T.E.D. Award given each year to the person in DriveAway which stands for who the great man Ted Paul was and continues to be in all of our lives today. He is proud of Bennett, and of this great Country which he served from 1955-1958 in the US Army. It's a privilege to come in each day, and work with the many men and women committed to putting the "Drive" in DriveAway.

Dave Rivers - Vice President

With over 40 years of business experience, and more than 30 in the transportation industry, Dave's experience in transportation began as a owner/operator for seven years. He also ran a successful transportation agency in Northern California representing open deck, van, and explosive carriers. For many of those carriers, he published government tenders with a program he designed. He traveled to Military Traffic Management Command at Oakland, CA weekly to keep his carriers advised of new opportunities as well as their competition's pricing.

In mid 1992, Dave accepted a position with Bennett Motor Express as Northeast Regional Manager, and received regional Manager of the year. Later he moved into the position of Manager Government Traffic.

Dave is married to his lovely wife Sandi and has 2 children, Paige and Frank and 4 beautiful grandchildren. He is proud to have served 6 years in the Air National Guard.

In September of 1994, Dave joined Bennett DriveAway as National Sales Manager and worked under the guiding hands of Ted Paul and Gerald "Fitz" Fitzgerald. Working with several transit bus manufacturers he secured CNG fueling locations across the nation, giving driveaway the ability to drive alternative fuel vehicles to final destination. Dave received the John Pini Award in 2001, and the T.E.D. award in 2009. Currently, Dave serves as Vice President of Bennett DriveAway and is a member of the Bennett International Group's Board of Directors. We work every day to Put the "Drive" in DriveAway.

Tom Woodall - Vice President of Operations

Tom's first taste of transportation came at a very early age (12) from a family owned business in logging and lumber. This is where he learned about hard work, teamwork, and a whole lot of sweat.

While continuing in the family business, he attended North Georgia Tech earning an Associate's degree in Business and Metallurgy. After a short time spent in construction, he returned to transportation. For 9 years, he worked for an LTL carrier where he learned to the ropes from the ground up from dock worker to P&D driver, and eventually Terminal Manager of a large break bulk facility.

He is proud to be a part of a great company for the past 22 years. For the first 3 years at Bennett, he was Safety and Claims Manager before he joined to the DriveAway team as the Operations Manager followed by General Manager. Today, he is the V.P. of Operations. The 19 years he has spent with the DriveAway team he believes has been some of the best years of his life working with dedicated, committed mean and women who truly care about service.

Tom has received many awards during his tenure. Employee of the Month 4 times along with Department of the Quarter, the prestigious John Pini Award for Excellence in 2005, and in 2010, he received the T.E.D. Award. As V.P. of Operations, it is all about service, and all the men and women of DriveAway understand what it means to put the "Drive" in DriveAway.

Amy Stookey - Operations Manager

Amy's career in transportation began in 1985, working for a major distribution company as a shipping/receiving clerk. Two years later, while still at the distribution company, she began working for an LTL carrier and a regional carrier while working towards a BBA in Management at Clayton State University, graduating in 1991. She learned and worked most every aspect of transportation administration, payroll, billing, logs, claims, fuel tax, dispatch, shipping/receiving office supervisor, and ultimately promoted to Safety Director.

In January 1997, she came to work for Bennett DriveAway as a dispatcher, and later promoted to Operations Manager in 2004. In 1998, she received the "Dispatcher of the Year", and in 2006, received a great honor in being presented the "Leader of the Year". Something she is very proud of, and continues to strive toward each day at Bennett. Her experience over the years and her time here at Bennett has served her well. The goal is to continue to provide the best service to our customers, and at the same time, taking care of the many men and women who work together to drive the many vehicles safely each day. Amy enjoys helping to put the "Drive" in DriveAway!

Bob Leedy - Manager, Business Development

Bob's career began in the restaurant business with Taco Bell as Regional Operations Manager in Oklahoma City, OK, where he spent 13 years. He was responsible for the operation and profit results of 20 restaurants. When the door opened to join Rally Hamburgers as a Regional Operations Manager in Muncie, IN, he developed a new market, building and opened 8 new restaurants.

For seven years, Bob owned his own full service gas station and automotive repair service station (the good old days). In 1997, Bob got his start in transportation beginning with Morgan Driveaway as their Regional Manager in Elkhart, IN. In 2002, Bob joined the Bennett DriveAway family, and is now involved in the sales aspect of the business. He has brought on and helped develop many key customers as well as involved with the opening of several new terminals in KS, CA, KY, WI and IN.

Bob attended the University of Cincinnati, and majored in Business Management. Today, he enjoys the opportunity to meet with many of our great customers as he travels this great country, and very proud to be a part of the team that puts the "Drive" in Driveaway!
